Blick Rothenberg accountants, ten tips to help in a recession
1) Minimise interest on credit cards by paying on time or shopping
around for zero-rate or cash back on spending deals.
2) Fuel, electricity telephone make sure that you are on the
lowest tariff that you can get. With mobile phones make sure that the mobile contract is the one that you want and not the one that they want to sell
3) Make sure that your using the tax system so that income is put
in hands of the lower tax ratepayer. Shift investments so income is taxed at lowest rate possible
4) Buy in advance if you are planning to travel by rail or air
book early to get the best bargains.
5) Food: Only buy what you need - not stockpile.
6) Don't by things when they immediately when they come out. Wait
until the price drops it always does. This is particularly true with CD's, DVD's and books
7) Car share when you can.
8) Make your own packed lunch flask of tea or coffee do not buy
lunch out
9) Take the car off the road if you are not using it. Do you need
two cars taxed and insured?
10) DO it yourself instead of getting someone in for home improvements.
