Colchester pub crash: tributes paid to "kind and gentle soul"

Stuart McClung, 36, has been described as a much loved brother, partner and friend (Essex Police).

On Sunday 3rd November a car crashed into a pub in the town, killing one man and injuring others.

36-year-old Stuart McClung, from Colchester, died as a result of injuries suffered at the Spinnaker Public House on Hythe Quay at around 12.50am.

His partner Vikki Spall and sister Kelly McClung, said in tribute: "It is with great sadness that today we announced the passing of Stuart James McClung.

"Stu was a kind and gentle soul, a talented musician, and a much loved brother, partner and friend.

"We would like to thank our family and friends for their support and kind words, and the emergency services and staff of Colchester General Hospital for all they have done for us.

"Kelly and I would like to ask that you respect our privacy during this difficult time. Thank you."

A 40-year-old man was arrested on a suspicion of a number of offences following the incident, and has been released under investigation.

Police are asking anyone with information to get in touch on 101 quoting incident 63 of 3rd November.
