The man who died in a plane crash near the Essex-Suffolk border on Sunday morning has been named by police.
Stuart Penfold, a 54-year-old from Halstead, crashed into fields in Belchamp Water at around 11.50am.
In a statement, Mr Penfold's family said: "In loving memory of a devoted, reliable and wonderful husband, father and grandfather.
"A passionate light aircraft flyer and a keen member of Braintree Motorcycle Club, on a journey to his next destination."
Essex police say they are assisting the Air Accident Investigation Branch with their enquiries into the crash, which saw eight fire engines attend.
Anyone who witnessed the incident or saw the aircraft shortly before is asked to contact Braintree Police Station on 101, quoting incident number 503 of February 3rd.
