Colchester Castle will be getting the public into the festive spirit during its annual Christmas open evening next week.
The castle, which is the largest Norman keep in Europe, will be hosting an array of entertainment between 3pm and 8.30pm on Wednesday 12th December.
Visitors will be able to enjoy free entry to see the festive decorations, listen to the Christmas Carols and eat one-too-many mince pies.
There will also be a chance for children to meet Santa himself.
Councillor Tim Young, Deputy Leader of the Council and Portfolio Holder for Business and Culture, said: "Visiting the castle at Christmas is rather magical. The whole building takes on a charming, festive atmosphere and is a brilliant place to take the family over the holidays.
"The open evening is a very exciting event for the castle and will be buzzing with a great yuletide spirit."
Entry to the castle is free, however for children to see Santa and recieve a small gift there will be a charge of £5.
If you are unable to get the opportunity to see Mr Claus, then do not worry, you can book visits with him on selected dates until December 23.
