Police are appealing for information after a house was broken into on Friday.
It was reported that at around 1.30am on 5th July, three men gained entry to a property on Seawick Avenue, who then sprayed the occupant with a liquid.
Police say it is not believed to be corrosive and nothing was taken.
A spokesperson for Essex Police said: "We do not believe there is any wider threat to the public at this time, but we would ask for anyone with information about this incident to come forward."
The suspects left on foot. One is described as black, around six foot tall, of a slim build and wearing a dark tracksuit.
The second is also described as black, around six foot two inches tall and of a stocky build.
While the third suspect is described as white, around five foot 10 inches tall, of a slim build and was wearing a dark blue tracksuit with the hood up.
