Man knocked to ground and stamped on in Colchester attack

A man has suffered a broken jaw and head injuries after being punched and stamped on in Colchester yesterday.

The assault happened as the victim - who is in his 20s - was walking along Fairhead Road with a friend just before midnight.

A car proceeded to pull alongside the pair and a man got out and spoke to the victim. He then punched him to the ground and stamped on him.

Police say they are treating the incident as a targeted attack.

The attacker has been described as white, around six foot tall, with light ginger or blonde hair.

The car, which also had a woman in it, was either silver or light blue, according to Essex Police.

The victim was taken to hospital straight after the attack, and continues to receive treatment.

Anyone with information, CCTV or dash-cam footage is asked to call Colchester CID on 101 quoting incident 1291 of the 8th May, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
