Young man 'lucky not to be more seriously injured' after Clacton stabbing

A man has been stabbed in the leg while being assaulted by seven people in Clacton last night.

The 21-year-old victim was walking down Edith Road with friends at around 1am when the group pulled up in cars and attacked him.

He was taken to hospital and is expected to make a full recovery, according to Essex Police.

Detective Sergeant Daniel Jeffries, of Clacton CID, said: "This was an extremely serious incident during which a young man was stabbed.

"Essex Police will not tolerate those who think it is acceptable to use weapons and commit violent crime."

Officers are linking the stabbing to a fight involving several men outside the Moon and Starfish pub on Marine Parade East earlier that night.

DS Jeffries added: "We are following numerous lines of enquiry and would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident or has information about those involved - it is only luck that the victim did not receive more serious injuries."

Witnesses or anyone with information should contact Clacton CID on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
