Mark Franklin plays great songs from this week across three different years on The Classic Countdown - Sunday afternoons from 4pm.
We fired some questions at the former Top of the Pops presenter to find out what makes him tick...
What was the first single you ever bought?
It was a toss up between Prince Charming by Adam & The Ants and The Land of Make Believe by Bucks Fizz. Which do you think I went for?!
What’s the best thing about presenting on the radio?
Connecting with and getting a reaction from the listener to something you've said or played. It's the best job ever.
What are your 3 favourite things?
Music, photography and travelling
What would be the title of your autobiography?
Hot Off the Mark
Name your top 5 dinner guests.
Quite an eclectic mix. Marilyn Monroe, Stephen Fry, Judge Judy, Columbo (I appreciate this is a fictional person but I'm removing all boundaries. If I can't have Columbo I'll go for Poirot instead!) and Kylie Minogue.
The Breakfast Club - I first saw this 5 years after its release and at age 16, it completely spoke to me.
Tell us one thing that may surprise us about you.
I won the Tarzan competition, aged 12, at Kiln Park in Tenby. I beat 27 other kids. Not even joking. I still have the trophy.
What will you be remembered for most?
I'd have to say presenting Top of the Pops - certainly a life highlight for me
If you were stranded on a desert island and could only take 5 things with you what would they be?
I'm quite a simple guy really and also very practical... phone, solar power battery charger. headphones, factor 30 suncream, moisturiser.
Other than being a radio presenter, what other job would you like to have a go at?
I always wanted to be a lawyer. And a fire engine. Not a fireman, the actual engine - I was 4.
If you could go anywhere in the world where would you go?
What was your nickname at school?
